For Famsun’s European R&D organisation, Landau Headhunting is looking for a Senior Design Engineer with experience in producing mechanical equipment designs, for vertical dryers.

You will be part of a global multi-cultural company with headquarters in Yangzhou, China and R&D centers in Kansas City in the US, Aarhus  in Denmark and Oldenburg in Germany. Famsun has sales offices around the world selling and servicing their feed factories. Your place of residence could be anywhere in Europe. You will work either from Famsun’s R&D office in Aarhus, Denmark or from your home office / an office near your home.


Your key tasks


As a Senior Design Engineer, you will work with research and development of new products, producing original mechanical equipment designs. You will develop and design vertical dryers and other equipment from concept through delivery. Your key tasks and responsibilities will be as below:
  • Deliver vertical dryer innovation grid in partnership with Process Engineers and Product Developers.
  • Summarize design requirements for vertical dryer control systems and assist the control system design engineers to complete the system design.
  • On-site trouble shooting and problem solving, improve and optimize the product structure design.
  • Ensure all designs are engineered to meet national and international codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings or computer-generated reports.
  • Use drafting tools or computer-assisted design software (3-D).
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Utilize mechanical design expertise, in collaboration with process experts, to develop comprehensive solutions.
  • Improve existing equipment.
  • Assist in building and commissioning the prototype.
  • Depending on the pandemic situation, business traveling domestic and overseas including attending seminars or exhibitions, technical support, on-site trouble shooting, etc.

Your professional profile


Being the ideal candidate, you are expected to have:
  • At least 8 years’ design experience in mechanical structure design of vertical dryers and other related equipment with strong knowledge of mechanical design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and dryer control system. If you have less years of experience, you must be able to clearly illustrate your expert capabilities.
  • Your experience in development of vertical dryer is the most important, but as a minimum you need to be proficient in the design of a part of the vertical dryer such as the spreader.
  • Capability to analyze computer simulation results and modify the mechanical structure accordingly.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering/thermodynamics or similar.
  • Fluent with 3D design software such as Autodesk Inventor.
  • Keen knowledge of metallurgy and heat treatments.
  • Knowledge of fluid power systems (Hydraulics and Pneumatics).
  • Knowledge of Steam Systems.
  • Good communications skills.
Furthermore, it will be an advantage if you have experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
