The Fehmarnbelt Connection is one of Europe's most comprehensive construction projects ever. It is run by an organisation of nearly 500 staff building the world’s longest immersed tunnel and the longest for both road and rail traffic. It will consist of a motorway and rail connection, including an 18 km-long tunnel allowing faster and safer travel between Scandinavia and continental Europe. It will take less than 3 hours to travel by train between Hamburg & Copenhagen (currently, 4½ hours).
Appointed by the owner, Femern A/S, Femern Link Contractors (FLC) is the Joint Venture in charge of the Design and construction of the immersed tunnel, including the tunnel portals and ramps. A series of international civil works companies with individual experience in major infrastructure projects constitute the Joint Venture. FLC’s joint venture partners are all committed to jointly cooperating to deliver a state-of-the-art immersed tunnel, portals & ramps that are timely and safely executed sustainably and ethically.
We seek a dedicated and experienced Works Preparation Engineer to join FLC. Being a Works Preparation Engineer at a large construction project is challenging and rewarding. You'll dive into detailed planning, ensuring every stage is meticulously mapped to keep the project on track. Safety is paramount, so you'll implement and monitor strict safety protocols. You'll also coordinate with diverse teams to ensure seamless communication and collaboration. Problem-solving will be a daily task, tackling unexpected issues with innovative solutions. Managing resources efficiently, maintaining high-quality standards, and controlling costs are crucial. Ultimately, you'll play a key role in turning ambitious construction plans into reality, contributing to the world’s longest-immersed tunnel project.
So, in this role, your primary responsibilities will be:
Independent work preparation in tunnel construction / civil engineering
Creation of detailed schedules/construction phase plans
Planning and creation of construction site installation plans
Development and optimization of work processes and sequences
Creation of equipment, personnel and formwork deployment planning
Quantity survey
Development of special proposals and investigation of alternative construction methods
Support in the tendering and awarding of contracts
Coordination with calculation, project, construction management and controlling
Schedule control, including updating of contract and work schedules
Preparation of Work Method Statements, Work procedures and other relevant execution documents
As a Works Preparation Engineer, you will have a challenging and independent job in an informal and international environment. You will work in interdisciplinary teams, where you can always count on support from committed colleagues and your managers.
Successfully completed a degree in civil engineering or comparable
Min 5 years Experience in the field of work preparation
Experience in using common scheduling programs such as Powerproject, MS Project or Tilos
Language skills in English, German is desirable
Motivated, dynamic and versatile way of working as well as high flexibility and ability to work in a team
