Senior P&ID & Process Engineer – Europe

For FAMSUN’s European R&D organisation, Landau Headhunting is now looking for a Global Head of Compliance to lead the transformation and upgrading of Famsun’s existing equipment to comply with CE and ATEX standards.

 

The position

As Famsun’s engineering activities continue to expand in the European market - particularly within feed, pet food, and related bulk material processing industries - we are seeking a highly experienced P&ID and process engineering expert with strong knowledge of European engineering standards and documentation practices.

This role will serve as a key technical position within Famsun’s European engineering organization, responsible for establishing and standardizing P&ID systems in line with European engineering practices. You will ensure compliance with relevant EN, ISO, IEC, and ATEX standards where applicable, while upgrading existing engineering deliverables for use across design, construction, commissioning, and operation.

This role will play an important part in supporting project execution. You will work closely with engineering, project, and commissioning teams, provide technical guidance throughout design and delivery, and participate in key customer discussions and technical clarifications.
You will also be responsible for building internal capability by training engineering teams on European P&ID standards, developing templates and documentation guidelines, and acting as the go-to expert for engineering documentation within the European organization.

You can expect occasional travel to China as needed to coordinate with engineering teams and project sites, while maintaining frequent communication with headquarters engineering teams through online meetings and business travel. Total travel time will not exceed 150 days per year.

This is a senior-level expert role aimed at highly experienced process or plant engineering professionals with deep hands-on experience in P&ID design and review within industries such as feed, pet food, or similar bulk material processing. Experience with European project delivery and strong knowledge of ISA, ISO, and EN standards is essential.

You will join a global, multicultural organization headquartered in Yangzhou, China, with engineering centres located in Kansas City (USA), Aarhus (Denmark), and Düsseldorf (Germany). The Famsun Group operates sales and service offices worldwide.

Your employment will be with either the German or Danish engineering organization, with flexibility to work remotely within Europe. You will report to Famsun's Director of Engineering in Europe as well as global engineering leadership in China.

 

Your key responsibilities

Your key tasks and responsibilities in this role will be as below:

Establish European-Standard P&ID System

• Define and implement P&ID standards aligned with European engineering practices
• Standardize symbols, tagging, documentation structure, and drawing conventions
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., EN / ISO / IEC, ATEX where applicable)

Upgrade Engineering Deliverables

• Review and optimize existing P&IDs for feed and pet food processing lines
• Ensure drawings are suitable for:
  • Customer review and approval 
  • Construction and installation
  • Commissioning and operation

Support Project Execution

• Work closely with engineering, project, and commissioning teams

• Provide technical guidance during design and delivery phases
• Participate in key customer discussions and technical clarifications

Build Internal Capability

• Train internal engineering teams on European P&ID standards and best practices
• Develop templates, guidelines, and documentation systems
• Act as the go-to expert for engineering documentation in Europe

You can expect occasional travel to China as needed to coordinate with engineering teams and project sites, while maintaining frequent communication with headquarters engineering teams through a combination of online meetings and business travel.

 

Your professional profile

We are looking for an internationally recognized expert with deep, hands‑on experience in process- or plant engineering. 

You ideally bring:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience in process engineering or plant engineering
• Strong background in feed, pet food, food processing, or similar bulk material industries
• Hands-on experience delivering projects in Europe
• Experience working with or delivering projects to companies such as BioMar, De Heus, Nutreco
• Background from leading engineering or equipment companies (e.g., Bühler, Andritz, CPM) is highly preferred
• Fluent professional English

P&ID Expertise

• Deep expertise in developing and reviewing P&IDs in line with European standards
• Familiar with:
  • ISA / ISO / EN standards for instrumentation and documentation
  • Tagging systems and control philosophy
• Experience ensuring P&ID usability across design, construction, and operation phases
