The company
NorSea Wind is a provider of integrated services to the offshore wind industry. The company’s service lines include operations and maintenance activities for both wind turbines and HVDC platforms, in addition to marine support. The company is owned partly by NorSea Group, a leading supplier of base service and logistics to the offshore industry, and partly by Wilhelmsen Ship Management, a global maritime industry giant covering more than 2.200 ports worldwide. The two mother companies are headquartered in Norway., with subsidiarys in Denmark.
Today, NorSea Wind consists of 70 employees, of whom the majority are based in Hamburg. Norsea Wind is in rapid development and is now in need of an experienced Sales Director.
The job
We are searching for an international sales profile with solid knowledge of the wind power industry. Based in central Hamburg and reporting to the CEO of NorSea Wind, you will have the overall responsibility for a new strategic area within sales of service contracts for offshore wind farms. Your typical customers will be pension and investment funds or utilities such as Vattenfall or EON. The company acts globally, focusing mainly on the Northern and Western European markets.
We expect you to have a strong network in the wind power industry and knowledge of the key players in the market, including its operations and procurement organizations. Experience in handling O&M contracts is expected, as well as being able to prepare proposals for framework agreements on subcontracting of skilled professionals and to make campaigns for maintenance and replacement of key components.
The sales department consists of you and a Tender Manager, who will report to you. You will be working closely with the Tender Manager, who also has a strong understanding of all commercial and operational aspects. Apart from having the overall responsibility for all strategy and development in the area, you will also be an important player in relation to the Norwegian owners. This to leverage the ressources and skills available across the Wilhelmsen group companies.
Considering the rapid development of the company, and the requirements to a position as a Sales Director of a company of this size in terms of sales, strategy and development, your main tasks will be:
- Worldwide sales of service contracts and related services, with emphasis on Northern and Western Europe
- Development of a strong sales pipeline
- Preparation of sales and cost budgets, target setting and continuous monitoring of results
- Driving the tender process, with an emphasis on transparent reporting to the CEO and board
- Preparation of business plans and estimates and maintenance of maximum profitability in the sales activities
- Continuous reporting to Group management concerning markets, priority customers, potentials and actions
- Planning and conducting promotional activities, including workshops and conferences and attending trade fairs etc.
- Being the leading person in sales strategies and business development - ongoing dialogue with top management.
Your professional profile
The job requires a person who has served 5-10 years as a Sales Manager/Sales Director/CSO - preferably in an order-producing internationally oriented company – or a person who comes from a purchasing department of an energy company. Candidates with a background in the wind power industry will be preferred.
We expect you to be a strong salesperson who pursues both short- and long-term goals. You are a top-level negotiating partner with a good understanding of the business.
Overall, we are interested in the following professional skills:
- Solid business understanding
- Background from sales in the wind power industry - background from the maritime sector will be an advantage
- Solid technical insight
- International (sales) experience
- Experience negotiating complex delivery projects
- Experience in developing best practice business processes
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Fluent English in writing and speech. German and possibly other languages will be an advantage.
Finally, you are commercially trained with technical flair/experience. Or you have a technical background - Engineer or similar with commercial understanding and insight. However, it is the practical background and experience that counts.

Moreover, you enjoy meeting new people and creating new relationships. You have a good sense of humor and an innovative, energetic and motivating attitude. You are structured and trustworthy, and
you are independent, result-oriented and self-motivating with the ability to stay focused even during hectic periods. Crucial to this central position is also that you are a resilient person with strong decision-making skills and great impact.
Since the majority of the organization is working from Hamburg, it will be an advantage if the you live in or close to Hamburg. Travel activity is expected to be around 60-80 days per year.
